Seasock Speaks Candidly About Traxxas, T-Maxx
Traxxas Publicity Director Richard Day recently interviewed T-Maxx driver John Seasock before he headed south to debut the T-Maxx in the United States Hot Rod Association’s Monster Jam® competition. Here’s what John had to say.
RD: You’re a very successful Monster Truck racer and you’ve been around the sport for years. What does it mean to you to drive the T-Maxx for Traxxas?
JS: It’s a great honor to drive the T-Maxx for Traxxas. I’ve been an R/C fan for years. I grew up playing with R/C trucks, airplanes and helicopters. Traxxas is just awesome. The vehicles they make are so realistic. They’re so much like the vehicles we drive every day in competition. I’m proud to be a part of Traxxas. I’m proud to represent the company with the T-Maxx truck.
I’m honored and proud to be the first to drive Traxxas’ full-size Monster Truck. My crew chief, Mike Hoy, and I can’t wait to show everybody this vehicle at Traxxas headquarters and then at the 2005 Monster Jam season opener Saturday in Houston. Everything – from the truck to the trailer to the uniforms – is so impressive. It’s just an honor to be hooked up with a company of that caliber.
RD: Will you run the T-Maxx team in much the same fashion as your Sudden Impact team?
JS: We’re going to keep the same morals and values we’ve always had. I’m very active in D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We never endorse any alcohol or tobacco products. Nothing is going to change. We’re going to run 110% every time the T-Maxx is seen. We’re not going to cut anybody any slack. We’re going for a world championship. We’re going to run the truck wide open every time. The fans who come to see it are going to be really impressed. There are millions of T-Maxx owners we want to make proud, too. We’re not going to let anybody down.
RD: You’re going to race the T-Maxx in USHRA Monster Jam events through the end of March. Where else do you plan to race?
JS: Yes, we’re going to start with the Monster Jam events. Many of those events can be seen on the Speed Channel. We’re also going to enter the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals events following the Monster Jam season (starting with the Inaugural O'Reilly Auto Parts Texas 4-Wheel Jamboree in Fredericksburg, TX, April 2-3). These events allow the fans to come out and get close to the trucks. There are a lot of show-and-shine trucks there.
The best thing the fans can do is check www.T-Maxx.com often to see our schedule and all the reports. It will be updated often. That’s the best way to keep up with the team and see what’s happening. That’s also the best way to keep up with all the updates with Traxxas’ 1/10-scale T-Maxx truck. Mike and I have even joined the Traxxas Message Board so fans can stay in touch with us. Being around the fans is very important. That’s what made us who we are today. That’s what gave us the opportunity to do what we do. If it wasn’t for them, we’d have to go out and get a real job.”
