TAMPA, FL (January 19) Get ready to rumble, Monster Jam® fans! John Seasock and the Traxxas T-Maxx are ready to roar back into United States Hot Rod Association® competition Saturday in the Superbowl of Motorsports at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.
The T-Maxx raced into the semifinals in the season opener at Houston’s Reliant Stadium. Last week, Traxxas’ full-size monster truck recorded one of the fastest qualifying times in the Monster Jam in the Louisiana Superdome before crashing a split-second after crossing the finish line. Seasock and his crew are ready to put that behind them and dominate the Tampa event.
“What happened last week was just one of those things that happen,” Seasock said Wednesday. “We have definitely made an impression on everybody. Our crew has really pulled together and worked some long, hard hours this week to make sure the truck is 100%. We hope to have everything fixed on the truck today so we finish recording our MTV show with the ‘Wild Boyz’ tomorrow morning. Then we can leave for Tampa. We have a display at a Southern Ford Dealers dealership Friday afternoon.”
Plenty of top-notch competition awaits Seasock and the T-Maxx in Tampa, including last week’s race and freestyle winner, Maximum Destruction® driven by Tom Meents. Among the other monster trucks expected to battle the T-Maxx this week are the Grave Digger® driven by Dennis Anderson, Madusa®, Superman®, Hot Wheels®, Reptoid®, Gunslinger®, Obsession®, Predator®, Prowler® and American Guardian®.
“The Tampa event is going to be a lot like the one in New Orleans,” Seasock said. “It will be the same caliber of trucks, like a World Finals event. I’m looking forward to it. I’m feeling better and my head’s on straight, so we’re going to treat every round like it’s the final round.”
“It will be our first outdoor show of the year. We just hope the weather is good. The fans in Florida are unbelievable. Last year in Orlando, we had a monsoon go through and they stayed through the whole show. We run even if it rains; the only way they will cancel the show is if there is lightning and it’s unsafe for the fans. We’re going to go out and, no matter what the track conditions are, we’re going adjust and hope we can get into the finals.”
