Seasock, T-Maxx Head to Orlando for Superbowl of Motorsports

ORLANDO, FL (January 26) – A week before Jacksonville hosts Super Bowl XXIX between the NFL’s New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, the world’s best monster truck drivers will compete in the United States Hot Rod Association’s Superbowl of Motorsports in Orlando.

John Seasock and the Traxxas T-Maxx™, fresh from their second semifinal run in three weeks, will be among the Monster Jam® stars crushing cars and racing around Orlando’s Florida Citrus Bowl Saturday.

Seasock, a 15-year veteran of professional monster truck competition, was among the top four performers in last week’s Superbowl of Motorsports at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. The T-Maxx outraced Madusa® and Hot Wheels® and scored a 25 to finish fourth in the freestyle competition. Seasock is eager to perform for the energetic Florida fans.

“The weather’s been beautiful out here this week,” Seasock said Wednesday. “The Florida Citrus Bowl is an awesome place and the fans are great. We expect to have a sellout crowd (of 70,000). Last year, it poured and the fans sat through every drop of rain until the very end. The Florida fans are very dedicated. It’s an all-day affair to them. They spend the day tailgating in the parking lot. There will also be a Party in the Pits in the afternoon. It’s a really good time here.”

Fans can attend the Party in the Pits at the Florida Citrus Bowl between 3:30pm and 5:30pm with free pit passes available at Orlando-area Southern Ford Dealers.

Fans will also have the opportunity to ride in a real monster truck during the Superbowl of Motorsports. Free monster truck ride passes are available at participating Advance Discount Auto Parts locations through Saturday.

Seasock and the T-Maxx will compete against another tough group of monster trucks in Orlando, including Maximum Destruction driven by six-time USHRA world champion Tom Meents. Meents swept the racing and freestyle competition in Tampa and New Orleans last two weeks.

“Tom is an excellent driver,” Seasock said. “He has great equipment and he’s on a hot streak.”

Other monster trucks expected to battle in the Florida Citrus Bowl include Grave Digger® driven by Dennis Anderson, Madusa, Hot Wheels, Superman®, Gunslinger®, Obsession®, War Wizard®, Eradicator®, Annihilator® and Destroyer®.

“We have another great group of trucks competing this weekend,” Seasock said. “I’m not getting any slack. We don’t have any easy weeks, but that’s OK. That just makes it sweeter when we perform well.

”The T-Maxx is phenomenal. It has plenty of power and it handles well. I just need more seat time in it. Every week, we get faster and faster. We’re just trying to get better all the time. We’re taking it one round at a time.”

The Florida Citrus Bowl will open at 5:30pm, with competition beginning at 7:30pm. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 407-839-3900. Orlando-area Dairy Queen locations are offering discount coupons of $2 off advance tickets through January 28th. The discount coupons are not valid on the day of the event. All tickets cost $12; $15 on the day of the event.
