Seasock, T-Maxx Win Second Straight Monster Jam

ROANOKE, VA (February 12) – With John Seasock driving the T-Maxx™ to victory in last weekend’s Roanoke Monster Jam®, the Traxxas team is among the hottest in United States Hot Rod Association® competition.

Seasock drove the T-Maxx to its second victory in successive weekends, beating Little Tiger® in the Saturday afternoon finals at the Roanoke Civic Center. Traxxas’ full-size monster truck was almost unbeatable in two of Roanoke’s three Monster Jams.

“Friday was really good,” Seasock said. “We got the truck set up early, and we raced on a straight-lane course against a lot of tough, top trucks. We ended up being the number one qualifier. We just took it one round at a time and ended up finishing second. We lost to War Wizard® in the finals. I ‘caught a bad light’ and he (Randy Moore) was able to get ahead of me. He left faster than I did and I wasn’t able to catch him. Second place wasn’t too bad though.

“It was a really tacky track. We mashed the big throttle and pulled the front end right off the ground. We wheeled up and over the ramp. Our back tires hit the ramp and ‘tripped’ the front end down. We went up high in the air and ended up on our nose at the finish line. It’s a risky move – either it works really well or, if you don’t yank the front end up high enough and hit the ramp, it shoots your nose straight up in the air. If it works right, you have to be quick to shut it down on the other end because you’re on your nose. We were going that route and it worked really well for us. The truck was awesome.”

The T-Maxx also performed well in freestyle competition Friday night, finishing in third place behind Grave Digger® and Avenger®.

“We went out in freestyle and had a blast,” Seasock said. “I think we scored a 24. The truck was working really well. We turned plenty of doughnuts, got some big air on the jumps and pulled some sky-high wheelies.”

Saturday started early for Seasock and the T-Maxx, with an 11:30am Party in the Pits.

“We had a great pit party,” Seasock said. “The place was jammed. We signed autographs non-stop for an hour. They (USHRA officials) had to escort us off the floor.

“We were the second-fastest qualifiers Saturday afternoon. We worked our way through each round. We lost to Little Tiger early, but we were the fast loser and got to continue. We beat the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle to get to the finals and beat Little Tiger for our second victory in two weeks.
