WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 15) – Gear up for the T-Maxx™, Pennsylvania monster truck fans! Native son John Seasock and Traxxas’ entry in the United States Hot Rod Association® are ready to rumble in this weekend’s Monster Jam® in the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
“We haven’t competed in almost a month, but we’re ready,” said Seasock, who lives in Frackville, PA, approximately 50 miles from Wilkes-Barre. “It’s like riding a bike; we’ll just pick up where we left off. When we raced in Wilkes-Barre last year, we pulled off a win over Grave Digger®. We just repainted the T-Maxx, and it looks beautiful. The truck is definitely ready to go.”
Not only is the Traxxas T-Maxx a monster truck of beauty; it’s been among the USHRA’s fastest this season. Seasock has put together a streak of five finals in his last six events, including victories in University Park, PA, and Roanoke, VA. He was the runner-up in both the racing and freestyle competition in Minneapolis, MN, last month.
“This will be a great weekend,” Seasock said. “The facility is only an hour from my house, so I’m taking my boys (J.R. and Kyle) with me. We will have plenty of fans and other family members there, too.”
Seasock’s fan base continues to grow behind the wheel of the T-Maxx. He has received 33% of the votes in the first week of the USHRA’s Fan Choice Award voting and leads second-place Dennis Anderson, driver of the popular Grave Digger monster truck, by almost 200 votes.
“I’m totally amazed,” Seasock said of the Fan Choice Award voting. “There are a lot of ups and downs in this business, and the fans don’t see many of them. Receiving one vote makes me feel really good – and leading the voting is truly an honor. I hope we’re able to pull it out. Dennis, Tom (Meents) and all the other guys we compete against are awesome people and a big family. To win the Fan Choice Award would be phenomenal.”
Seasock never rests when it comes to meeting the fans and displaying the Traxxas T-Maxx. He and his sons plan to head to leave Frackville the day after shooting an episode of “The Great Outdoors” with Wilkes-Barre’s ABC affiliate, WNEP-TV 16.
“The Great Outdoors TV show will be shot here Tuesday,” Seasock said. “My boys and I are really excited. They’re a good bunch of people and we’ve enjoyed working with them before.
“We’re going to the Monster Jam a couple of days early so we can display the T-Maxx at an Advance Auto Parts store in Pittson, PA, Thursday. We will meet the fans and show off the truck.
“We’re going to put on a great show this weekend in Wilkes-Barre. We’re not going to leave anything on the track. It’s our last indoor show of the year, and I’m going to tear that place down! The fans in Wilkes-Barre definitely won’t be disappointed.
“It’s going to be even more fun this weekend because Brandon (Legarde), who drives my Sudden Impact truck, will be there. It’s my first opportunity to race against Brandon this year, so we’ve been talking smack back and forth on the phone. He has an 18-hour drive (from New Orleans) to get there, so I told him he has 18 hours before I embarrass him and take him to school Friday night.
“There will be plenty of good trucks in Wilkes-Barre: Carl Van Horn in Grave Digger, Chad Tingler in the 1-800 Safe Auto Minimizer® and (former teammate) Andy Slifko in the Eradicator®. It will be a tough field and a super show – and we’re going to do everything we can to win it.”
