Seasock, T-Maxx ‘Tear Up’ Lake City Fairgrounds

LAKE CITY, FL (April 11) John Seasock and the Traxxas T-Maxx dominated last weekend’s monster truck event at the Columbia County/Lake City Fairgrounds, winning two of the three shows!
“We won the Saturday night and Sunday shows,” Seasock said proudly. “We didn’t race; we just ran freestyle all weekend. It was a really good venue with lots of nice people running the event.”
Joey and Melissa Stathas of Big Boys Toys organized the non-sanctioned event, hosting Seasock and the T-Maxx, along with Sudden Impact®, Monkey’n Around®, Gold Digger® and God, Guts & Glory®, driven by Melissa. Seasock’s teammate, Brandon Legarde, drives the Sudden Impact monster truck.
Seasock, winner of the United States Hot Rod Association’s Fan Choice Award, was the hottest freestyle performer in the Saturday night and Sunday shows in Lake City. In two previous USHRA events run earlier this year in the Sunshine State, Seasock raced into the semifinals during the Superbowl of Motorsports in Tampa, FL, and reached the quarterfinals in the Superbowl of Motorsports in Orlando, FL.
“It poured Friday night,” Seasock said. “It was a bad monsoon, but we got the show in. Everybody did the best they could to put on a good show for the fans in the slop. We did a little damage to the T-Maxx that night. We didn’t find out what the problem was until Saturday’s show. We didn’t have time to fix it, so we ran the truck like it was and we won anyway. We found out we had broken a locker in the rear, a sway bar link and damaged the tranny (transmission) a little bit. We got to together and worked into the night (Saturday). We changed the rear end in the truck and had it ready for Sunday.
“Mike (Hoy, the team’s crew chief) worked really hard this weekend. We finished working at about 3:00 or 3:30 Sunday morning. One of our sponsors, Martin’s Mechanics, was there and helped us take the truck apart, repair it and put it back together.
“We went out Sunday with the T-Maxx running correctly, and just tore the place apart. We got some big air and tore the place up with high-speed doughnuts. We pulled some great wheelies, too. They had a car and three vans Sunday, and we got some big air over those. We just drove around like a nut and had a good time.”
Seasock and his crew are looking forward to visiting Traxxas headquarters this week.
“We’re stopping in New Orleans to clean the T-Maxx before we head to Texas to visit the fine people at Traxxas,” Seasock said.” |
