T-Maxx Races Through Wet Advance Auto Parts Jamboree
LIMA, OH (May 16) – The wet conditions couldn’t dampen John Seasock’s spirits as he drove the Traxxas T-Maxx™ monster truck during last weekend’s 20th Annual Advance Auto Parts Spring 4-Wheel Jamboree at the Allen County Fairgrounds.
Seasock drove the T-Maxx to victory in two of five races during the three-program event, and treated the enthusiastic sellout crowd to several rousing freestyle passes featuring car-crushing, jumps, wheelies and doughnuts.
“Wow, did we get wet,” Seasock said. “We had a good time though. The place was rainy and muddy, but the place was packed. There was a great crowd of about 35,000. We did some interviews with The Outdoor Channel and ESPN.”
Like its R/C replica, the full-size T-Maxx was Ready-to-Race® Friday, and Seasock roared past Rammunition® and Nitemare® in the first round and semifinals.
“We got to the finals Friday night and lost to Raminator®,” Seasock said. “We had a good freestyle despite the tough conditions. It was really rainy and muddy.”
Tire problems plagued the T-Maxx during Saturday’s competition, causing Seasock to lose to Avenger in the first round.
“During Saturday’s freestyle run, we got a hole in our right rear tire,” Seasock said. “There was a six-inch gash on the outside and a three-inch hole on the inside. Mike (Hoy, the team’s crew chief) and his helper, Rusty, worked hard to take the wheel apart and tried to patch the inside of it. Unfortunately, that hurt us in the Saturday night race. We had to let the tire cure overnight.”
Seasock and the T-Maxx easily beat Rammunition across the finish line again Sunday, only to be disqualified by Special Events Performance Series officials.
“We raced on a big S-course Sunday afternoon,” Seasock said. “We ran a great race against Rammunition, but they disqualified us when we ran into one of the turning poles. The first pole was lined up with the hood of the first (crushed) car, and I hit it. When I went over the first car, I tagged the cone.”
“We had a really good, fast pass. The T-Maxx was like lightning. We beat Rammunition by a lot. The truck felt awesome. I think three trucks ended up being DQ’d for that that afternoon. That was a shame because the truck felt great.”
“We went out in freestyle and put on a show for the Lima fans. We got some big air, pulled some big wheelies, turned some great doughnuts and ended up ripping that tire apart. We had a blast putting the T-Maxx through its paces.”
Seasock and his crew are spending the week at their New Orleans shop preparing the T-Maxx for this weekend’s United States Hot Rod Association Summer Heat Monster Jam event at Ocala Speedway in Ocala, FL.
