T-Maxx Wins Freestyle in Monster Mania Showdown

QUARRYVILLE, PA (August 1) – The Traxxas T-Maxx™ was definitely the truck to beat last weekend in the Monster Mania Showdown event at Buck Motorsports Park!
United States Hot Rod Association Fan Choice Award winner John Seasock drove Traxxas’ larger-than-life-size replica of the world’s premier R/C monster truck to second-place finishes in time trials and flat-track racing before winning the freestyle competition.
“The Monster Mania Showdown was great,” Seasock said. “The place was sold out. They always get a good crowd at the Buck (Buck Motorsports Park). Mike Hoff runs an awesome venue there.”
Seasock pulled off two seven-second passes in time trials, finishing just a few split-seconds slower than Captain USA®.
“We ran time trials on the tractor-pull track, a really hard-packed clay surface that abuses monster trucks,” Seasock said. “There’s really not enough room to race side-by-side over cars, so they put four cars out and you start 20 feet behind them. Then there’s a big space before they have four more parked cars and a ramp.
“The T-Maxx was the fourth truck to go out, and we put together two good passes. We got some really big air off the ramp. On our second run, we broke a sway bar when we came down. Mike (Hoy, the T-Maxx crew chief), and some friends who used to help me, switched the sway bar out quickly.”
Seasock avenged his time-trial loss to Captain USA in side-by-side, flat-track racing, but crossed the finish line several feet behind teammate Jason Duhon in the finals.
“We came up a little short against Kicker®.” Seasock said. “Later in the show, Jason fried a solenoid and broke a rear steering motor. We helped him fix those so he could get going again. Later, in freestyle, he broke a starter and a transmission. Captain USA broke a U-joint, so we helped him, too.”
Seasock and the T-Maxx were at their best in freestyle, winning for the sixth time this year.
“We went out and tore the place apart in freestyle,” Seasock said. “We got big air and pulled some really good slap wheelies. We stood the T-Maxx straight up and down. We had a blast. After about eight passes, Mike shut me off with the remote ignition interrupter because I broke a sway bar link. It was toward the end though, and the place went nuts. We won the freestyle competition.”
Traxxas, the leader in Ready-To-Race® radio-control models, has broken new ground by bursting into the earth-shaking world of monster truck racing this year. Thousands of proud T-Maxx owners now have the opportunity to cheer the full-size version of the world’s premier four-wheel-drive R/C monster truck to victory.
“We were glad we could put on a good show for the home-state fans,” said Seasock, who lives in Frackville. “We showed them what the T-Maxx can do.”
