T-Maxx Reaches Finals Twice in Mobile Monster Jam

Monster JamMOBILE, AL (August 8) – The Traxxas T-Maxx™ enjoyed an outstanding weekend in the United States Hot Rod Association Monster Jam® at the Mobile Civic Center.

USHRA Fan Choice Award winner John Seasock drove Traxxas’ larger-than-life-size replica of its #1-selling R/C monster truck into the finals in both racing programs, while finishing second in each wheelie contest and one freestyle event.

“We had a really good weekend,” Seasock said. “I can’t complain at all. The people in Mobile were really nice and hospitable. They had a really good, enthusiastic crowd, which always makes it better.”

Grave Digger®, driven by Pablo Huffaker, was the only obstacle that kept the T-Maxx from dominating the Mobile Monster Jam. For example, it took near-perfect performances for Grave Digger to edge the T-Maxx in the wheelie and doughnut contests on opening night.

“We went out Friday night and pulled some good wheelies,” Seasock said. “We whacked the wheelie bar on the cars and thought we locked up that part of the program. But Pablo went out after us and one-upped us in a very deserving victory. He did a phenomenal job.

“I had it going pretty good in the doughnut contest, but the T-Maxx started walking across the floor. I had to shut it down as I went out of bounds. We still finished second though, one point behind Grave Digger.”

Seasock finished in a tie for third place with Bad News® in Friday’s freestyle contest.

“I got some big air on my first freestyle jump,” Seasock said. “We broke a sway bar link on the T-Maxx, so I pulled out prematurely. Even with just one jump though, I scored a 22.”

Seasock drove the T-Maxx past Reptoid® and Bad News, only to finish a tire behind Grave Digger in Friday’s racing finals.

“Mike (Hoy, the T-Maxx crew chief) worked hard and got the truck fixed for the racing competition,” Seasock said. “We had a good run, but we lost a really close race to Digger in the finals. After that, Pablo and I went out and treated the fans to some team freestyle. That’s really fun for the fans when two trucks are flying around the building.”

Seasock treated the fans to autographs and an up-close-and-personal look at Traxxas’ gigantic monster truck late Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

“We signed autographs all night, then made a lot of new fans at the Party in the Pits,” Seasock said.

The T-Maxx tied Grave Digger with 26 points in the wheelie contest, finished one point behind in the doughnut competition and four points behind in Saturday’s freestyle event.

“We laid down another good sky wheelie in the wheelie contest,” Seasock said. “Pablo came out and did the same thing and we tied. We both pulled out with the announcer and, when Pablo received the louder cheer, they declared him the winner.

“I had another good doughnut going, but I walked out of bounds again and we finished third in the doughnut competition. Pablo came out, pulled an unbelievable cyclone, and won. If you have to lose, you don’t mind losing to a guy who performs that well.

“We went out and had lots of fun in freestyle. We got some big air and pulled some sky wheelies and slap wheelies. We were just flying around, having a good time.”

Victories over Reptoid and Bad News put Traxxas’ T-Maxx in Saturday’s racing finals.

“We got Pablo in the finals again Saturday,” Seasock said. “The trick to those short races is go get across the cars quickly. I got some big air going over the cars, Digger went under me, and beat me across the finish line. We lost, but we had a really good weekend. There were a lot of good trucks there, and Pablo’s equipment is some of the best in the country. We don’t like losing, but they were all well-deserved wins on his part. He did a phenomenal job.

“Mike had the T-Maxx set up great. He was right on top of it, working hard. We’ve been pounding the T-Maxx pretty hard and it’s holding up very well.”

Seasock will drive the T-Maxx in the USHRA Summer Heat Monster Jam August 27-28 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA.
