T-Maxx Reaches Semis at Off-Road Jamboree Nationals

4-Wheel JamboreeINDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 27) – The Traxxas T-Maxx™ thrilled monster truck fans with a semifinal run and two rough-and-tumble freestyle performances during last weekend’s 24th Annual Advance Auto Parts Fall 4-Wheel Off-Road Jamboree Nationals at the Indiana State Fairgrounds!

USHRA Fan Choice Award winner John Seasock drove Traxxas’ larger-than-life-size replica of its #1-selling R/C monster truck to victory over Big Dawg® in Saturday’s Advance Auto Parts Monster Truck Thunder Drags, but lost a close semifinal race to Raminator®. The T-Maxx was especially exciting in freestyle, which made for plenty of entertaining video for ESPN’s television cameras.

“We had a blast; it was a really good time,” Seasock said. “They had a wild course set up for us that sent you down into a hole, up over a ramp, on to some flat land, into another hole and up over some cars. It was cool.

“It rained a lot Friday, so I put a plastic bag over the magneto to keep it dry and protect the electrical system. I had a really good run going against Rammunition, but some racing gremlins got in there and caused the throttle to stick wide open. It got really interesting before I shut it down. We have a toe strap on the accelerator for this kind of situation, but I couldn’t get it to come back. It turned out that my air filter turned, moved the bag off the magneto and wrapped it around the motor and into the injector hatch, causing the throttle to stick. It was an easy fix, but it was amazing when I was driving the truck.”

The T-Maxx defeated Big Dawg®, but lost to Raminator® in Saturday’s semifinals.

“Raminator beat me out of the hole and I just couldn’t catch him,” Seasock said. “We gave it our best shot, but he has a lot of horsepower. He just got by us on the start and we chased him the whole race.

“I went flying out of the pits on our freestyle run and got some good air over the first jump. When I went to do a slap wheelie, one of my axle shafts broke. I made the best of a bad situation though. I jumped the pyramid and got some good air. I was having a good time, so I jumped it again. With us running in three-wheel drive, I turned sideways in the air on the second jump and stuffed the front end into the ground hard. The new sway bars we put on the T-Maxx took all the force and abuse though, so all it did was break the front clip. We went back out, did some roof surfing, and it was all good. The fans loved it. I’m sure it made some great video for the ESPN cameras.”

Another monsoon limited the monster trucks to only freestyle performances Sunday.

“It rained all day Sunday, so we ran freestyle in the muddy, slippery conditions,” Seasock said. “I got some big air off the pyramid, but the front clip flew off the truck and I landed on it. It was spectacular, and the crowd loved it. I just hope the ESPN cameras caught it.

“We had a good weekend. My friends, Rusty and Melissa Simpson, and Mark Hol and his wife were there. I really appreciate them helping me fix the broken axle Saturday."

Seasock will display the Traxxas T-Maxx at Kimberton Park in East Pikeland Township, PA, from noon to 3pm Saturday.
