PONTIAC, MI (January 7, 2006) – The Traxxas T-Maxx® roared into the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, to take part in the final USHRA Monster Jam® ever to be held in the facility before its doors close.
T-Maxx competed against a field of twenty of the nation’s best monster trucks and drivers including Grave Digger®, Maximum Destruction®, Avenger®, El Toro Loco®, and Madusa® on the final night of monster truck racing in the Silverdome. “It’s really a thrill to be a part of this event”, stated Seasock. “This is where the first ever public monster truck car crush was held over 25 years ago.” continued John.
Over 30,000 fans piled into the Built-Ford-Tough™-Party in the Pits to get a close up look at their favorite monster trucks and meet the drivers of the mechanical beasts.
A special qualifying session allowed drivers to compete for the best spot possible in the racing bracket for the St. Louis style racing course. Based on qualifying times, T-Maxx was up against the War Wizard® of Randy Moore in the first round of racing. War Wizard was unable to make the call for racing and T-Maxx was given a free run for the fans. T-Maxx drew a 2nd round match up against the current World Freestyle Champion, Bounty Hunter® driven by Jimmy Creten. Both trucks were even throughout the race but in the end it would be Bounty Hunter edging out T-Maxx at the line. The Bounty Hunter advanced to the final round of racing where he was defeated by Iron Outlaw®.
Next, T-Maxx prepared for freestyle. The track was filled with huge obstacles, but none could intimidate the massive T-Maxx monster truck. John started off with several great hits before making it to the biggest obstacle on the track, a bread van pyramid stacked on top of a 5’ table top. T-Maxx hit the obstacle and rocketed into an incredible launch over the pyramid that really got the fans going. However, the extreme impact was so hard that the front tie-rod broke, prematurely ending the freestyle session.
The T-Maxx will be seen at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia next Saturday (January 14) for the USHRA Monster Jam.
