INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (January 23, 2006) Indianapolis, Indiana is a spectacular city with motor sport roots that go deep into the foundations of the RCA Dome. Each year the RCA Dome hosts the biggest and the best monster trucks under its roof as a part of the USHRA Monster Jam series. The Traxxas T-Maxx squared off against a field loaded with 10 of the top monster trucks in the Monster Jam series including Grave Digger®, Maximum Destruction®, Avenger®, and Taz®.
The event started with the monster trucks qualifying on the Chicago-style course. Pro driver Carl Van Horn piloted the earth pounding T-Maxx to the number one spot over some of the sport’s best racers, including Tom Meents, Randy Brown, and Adam Anderson.
The first qualifying round for T-Maxx went very well, and it was obvious from the first pass that it was going to be a great night of racing. The fans were behind the Traxxas T-Maxx all the way. Driver Carl Van Horn said later that he could hear the fans even from inside the cab of the huge T-Maxx.
The fastest qualifying time would set T-Maxx up against the crowd favorite Grave Digger, driven by Randy Brown. Carl Van Horn dominated the Grave Digger in a good race. T-Maxx advanced into round 2 where he would face Rolling Thunder. Carl was able to defeat the Rolling Thunder machine in a yet another good race.
Next, Van Horn would line up in the semi-finals against Adam Anderson in Taz. Both trucks did well, but in the end it was Carl Van Horn sailing the Traxxas T-Maxx to victory in a photo finish. The hard work put in by the crew and driver apparently paid off, because the T-Maxx had the perfect setup and was working flawlessly.
In the final event T-Maxx and Maximum Destruction staged at the line, the lights went green, and it was off to the races! Both trucks stayed dead even until the T-Maxx bicycled up on two wheels giving Maximum Destruction the win.
Next on the agenda for T-Maxx was the monster truck freestyle competition. Carl and the T-Maxx were out 4th and attacked the enormous FMX jump. The Traxxas T-Maxx soared though the air in one of the biggest monster truck jumps witnessed this season. The truck landed perfectly and the crowd went wild! Van Horn never let off the throttle. After the huge air T-Maxx finished off freestyle with some slap wheelies, donuts, and even more huge air! When the dust had settled, the judges awarded Van Horn 22 points, which remained the leader until the final few trucks.
Indianapolis was a great stop for the Traxxas team. They had a great time meeting the fans, signing lots of T-Maxx bodes, and putting on an amazing performance.
The Traxxas T-Maxx can be seen at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on Saturday, February 4th. For more information on the T-Maxx monster truck, check out www.T-Maxx.com.
