GREEN COVE SPRINGS, FLORIDA (September 16, 2006) – The Southern Monster Truck Showdown hosted some of the South’s best monster trucks at the Clay County Fairgrounds in sunny Florida. The Traxxas T-Maxx, driven by Brandon Lagrade was pitted against Gun Slinger, Sudden Impact, Cowboy, Bad News Travels Fast, Wild Thang, Monster Patrol, and Monkey’n Around!
Prior to the event, T-Maxx received a complete overhaul at Sudden Impact Racing’s New Orleans headquarters. After a long stretch on the road T-Maxx deservedly received a new rear housing, new planetary gears, and new third members. With the excessive air that T-Maxx catches the routine maintenance and new parts are a necessity to maintain the reliability and ‘big time’ performance.
On Saturday, right after intros, T-Maxx suffered a rare first round loss, but was able to come back in a bye run. T-Maxx launched off the line and threw down a blistering fast run. Although T-Maxx didn’t advance, the truck was ready to rock and roll in freestyle. Lagrade put T-Maxx though its paces getting enormous air off the dirt ramps and moguls, giving fans what they came to see, BIG AIR!
On Sunday, T-Maxx was ready to make a statement. In the first round T-Maxx lined up against the Cowboy. The Traxxas machine blasted off the line and circled the track in a fury, defeating the racing winner from Saturday night by over two truck lengths. The Southern Monster Truck Showdown officials were shocked by the blistering fast run and many said it was the fastest, most aggressive pass of the weekend. While performing an extreme victory cyclone, the 1,500+ horsepower engine let go. The next stop for T-Maxx is back to the shop in New Orleans for a fresh engine.
Next weekend T-Maxx will rock the house in Lake Charles, Louisiana at the Extreme Monster Truck Nationals! For more information, check out www.T-MAXX.com. |
