JOLIET, ILLINOIS (October 7, 2006) – The Traxxas® T-Maxx™ descended on one of the most unique tracks in monster truck racing at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois. Over 8,000 people packed the grandstands to witness a monster truck showdown on the over/under figure 8 racing track. Jon Zimmer piloted T-Maxx against some of the nation’s top monster trucks including Avenger, Brutus, Excaliber, Sudden Impact, Eradicator, Aftershock, and Backdraft!
In Racing, T-Maxx matched up against Bob Robbins driving After Shock. In a display of raw power and total control, T-Maxx defeated After Shock to start off the night. T-Maxx proceeded to eliminate Backdraft in the 2nd round, advancing to the final round of racing against Sean Duhon in Excaliber. In a hard fought-battle T-Maxx went all out and entered the final corner too early. After T-Maxx made the steering correction, Excalibur caught T-Maxx, making it a close race to the finish. Excalibur snuck by T-Maxx at the line taking the win at Route 66 Raceway.
In freestyle, T-Maxx took to the track and kicked things off with a giant leap, clearing 6 cars. Zimmer turned T-Maxx around and the mammoth monster truck thundered to the other end of the track for another massive leap over the cars. T-Maxx then pulled off a ferocious donut sending dust everywhere! Fans cheered T-Maxx on as it charged towards the enormous bus pyramid. Upon impact, T-Maxx launched skyward getting huge air! T-Maxx slammed hard into the ground, and as the truck slammed down it popped back up into a breath taking slap wheelie! T-Maxx slid to a stop and the crowd went wild!
