MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA (January 19, 2008) - The life-size version of America’s favorite RC truck, the Traxxas T-Maxx raided the HHH Metrodome for a star studded Monster Jam on January 19th. Monster Jam’s heavy hitters were out in full force! A stacked field of 16 trucks including Grave Digger, Captain’s Curse, King Krunch, Sudden Impact, and El Matador were ready to do battle. Monster Truck racing veteran Carl Van Horn had the track dialed in with T-Maxx taking the fastest qualifying spot on the all-new cyclone style racing course which Monster Jam has started to implement this year.
In front of the Metrodome’s 55,000 Monster Jam fans Carl Van Horn took down Kristy Edge in Jurassic Attack in round one, Alex Blackwell in Captain's Curse in round two, and met up with Daron Basl in El Matador in the finals. In a good race, it was Carl Van Horn who rose to the occasion in T-Maxx to claim the Minneapolis, Minnesota racing win! Upon accepting his trophy for the day’s triumph, Carl graciously thanked Traxxas for their support, his team mates, and Tim Bush for his assistance in the team’s victory.
In freestyle, it would be T-Maxx going out 2nd to last after a perfect 30 was posted by Alex Blackwell in Captain's Curse. Van Horn took to the track with confidence as the Holbrook Engine roared and fans rose to their feet. Carl soared over the cars and buses before getting crossed up and landing upside down with time left on the clock. Although the run was short lived, the fans were ecstatic as Van Horn emerged. In an interview after the run, Van Horn thanked the Monster Jam fans along with his crew consisting of Jon Zimmer, Elliott Miller, and Steve Clayton. Carl ran into the crowd and high-fived the awesome T-Maxx fans!
Next week Carl Van Horn in T-Maxx and Jon Zimmer in Sudden Impact will take part in the last Monster Jam ever in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 26th.
